Less than 24 hours after losing the Champions League final to Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest, 1-1, 3-4 on penalties, Arsenal celebrated their Premier League title with a parade in north London.

The open-top double-decker buses left the Emirates Stadium at about three pm. According to The Guardian, 800,000 people were expected along the route, compared with 100,000 in Paris on Sunday.

Three buses made up the procession. The first carried the players and head coach Mikel Arteta, the second the backroom staff, and the third the women’s team, honoured after their Champions Cup win over SC Corinthians in February, 3-2 after extra time, a competition similar to the Club World Cup.

The convoy rolled along Holloway Road, Blackstock Road, Essex Road and Upper Street before returning to the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta, bitter after PSG’s success, appeared in sunglasses, while most players smiled despite the previous night’s setback. A DJ provided the soundtrack, Declan Rice stood at the front, and Cristhian Mosquera, who conceded the penalty for PSG’s equaliser, led the dancing at the back. Players wore shirts marked Champions 26 on the back.
