Arsenal are on the verge of securing the services of Ezri Konsa, who has informed Aston Villa about his desire to leave.

Ezri Konsa looks set to join Premier League champions Arsenal, as both clubs are in the final stages of negotiations. According to a report from Football Insider, the Aston Villa defensive mainstay’s move to the Gunners is “99 per cent” done, as he has already informed Villa about his desire to leave.

Konsa has done well for Villa

Konsa, who has been an integral part of the Villa first-team setup under Unai Emery, is eager to join the North London club. He has reportedly agreed terms with Mikel Arteta’s team, and now both clubs are on the verge of agreeing to a deal worth around £60-65 million.

The 28-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign last time out and managed to secure a spot in England’s World Cup squad.

Why Arsenal are keen on signing Ezri Konsa?

He is heading into his peak years, and Arteta seems very keen on having him in his ranks, as he will significantly bolster their defensive rotation. His ability to feature both as a centre-back and a right-back could also come in handy.

For now, he will help Arsenal cope with the absence of the injured duo of William Saliba and Jurrien Timber. All parties are confident of reaching a full agreement in the near future, as Konsa has his heart set on the move.

The English centre-back has only two years left on his deal, and since he wasn’t keen on renewing his contract, this summer is Villa’s final opportunity to raise significant funds from his sale. As a result, Villa have reluctantly opened the door to his departure this summer.
