Arsenal confirm arrival of Bayer Leverkusen's Piero Hincapié | OneFootball

Arsenal have confirmed the loan signing of highly-rated Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié.

The 23-year-old Ecuadorian international joined the Bundesliga outfit from Argentinian side Talleres in the summer of 2021 and he was since established himself as one of the most promising defenders in Europe, having won the league in Germany in the 2024/25 season.

Despite the £52m release clause in Hincapié's contract at Leverkusen, they have accepted a loan deal with an obligation to buy next summer.

Hincapié becomes Mikel Arteta's eighth addition of the summer, and second defensive signing following the arrival of talented prospect Cristhian Mosquera earlier in the window.

His arrival could also spell the end of Jakub Kiwior's time at the Emirates Stadium, with the Poland international heavily linked with a move to Portuguese giants Porto.
