Arsenal have confirmed that Kai has undergone successful knee surgery following an injury sustained during their Premier League opener with Manchester United.

The midfielder was forced to undergo a series of medical assessments and specialist consultations in the days after the match, which determined that an operation would be necessary.

In an official statement, the club said: “Today, Kai underwent a successful minor surgical procedure. He will shortly begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with everyone fully focused on supporting Kai to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.”

While Arsenal have not provided a definitive timeline for Kai’s return, the club emphasised that his rehabilitation will be carefully managed in order to facilitate a full recovery.

The news comes as a blow to Mikel Arteta’s side, who will now be without one of their key players as they look to build momentum early in the campaign.

Arsenal are already facing the potential loss of Bukayo Saka, who sustained a suspected hamstring injury in their win over Leeds United last weekend.
