According to most reports from the last few days, Enzo Fernandez has made it very clear he wants to leave Chelsea.
The midfielder was flirting with Real Madrid pretty openly back in March, leading to a two game suspension imposed by Chelsea. Los Blancos are clearly heavy favourites to sign him.
But if he’s really determined to leave Chelsea, he will have to consider other options too. Man City have been mentioned, as have PSG more speculatively. Atletico Madrid would also make sense. Now there’s a new name being mentioned more and more: Arsenal.
CaughtOffside today claim that “sources” have told them that Arsenal are monitoring Enzo’s situation, although the £120m that Chelsea claim to want for him would certainly put them off.
We’d expect the Gunners to be pretty low down the list, but we saw with Kai Havertz a couple of years ago that they do have money to spend and Chelsea will do business with them if it makes sense for them.
Ibrahima Konate was expected to sign a new deal at Liverpool, but instead has hit the open market as a free agent. Chelsea are interested, according to reports today.
Real Madrid are thinking up ways they can get Enzo Fernandez for a reduced price, and offering Chelsea players in return is the obvious way of doing it. A couple of young talents have already been mentioned.
