Arsenal have ended their 22-year wait to be crowned Premier League champions tonight after Manchester City's 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.Ā

City needed to win the fixture to keep alive their hopes of regaining the title and a domestic treble ahead of Pep Guardiola's impending departure but could only draw with Andoni Iraola's Cherries.Ā

The result means Arsenal are champions of England for a 14th time and for the first time since 2004, ending over two decades of pain for everyone connected with the North London club.Ā

Mikel Arteta's men led the table for the vast majority of the season but after a stumble in April which coincidentally saw defeats to Bournemouth and City, fell behind Guardiola's side on goal difference.

However, the Gunners - runners-up in each of the last three seasons - rallied with four consecutive league wins. In addition to City's dropped points at Everton, it put the title back in their own hands.Ā

With Arteta playing for the Toffees and David Moyes over 200 times, and having grown up with Iraola, there could hardly be more fitting sides and managers to help him over the line.Ā

The glory though belongs entirely to Arsenal, who will lift the title at Selhurst Park next Sunday and could yet complete a stunning Premier League and Champions League double.Ā
