Arsenal have been dealt a new injury scare after Leandro Trossard was forced off during the win against Sunderland.

Trossard received treatment from the Arsenal medical staff before getting back to his feet and was then replaced by Christian Norgaard.

There is yet to be an update on the 31-year-old regarding the severity of the injury, though he could be a doubt for Arsenal's next fixture against Brentford on Thursday night.

Trossard claimed the assist for Martin Zubimendi's goal which broke the deadlock three minutes before the interval as the Spaniard found the back of the net with a brilliant strike from outside the area.

Viktor Gyokeres was then on target twice after being introduced on the hour mark. First, he doubled Arsenal's lead with a powerful finish, adding a third on the break in stoppage time.

Arsenal were once again without Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard for the visit of the Black Cats on Saturday.

While Arteta did provide a positive update at his pre-match press conference on Friday, the Sunderland game was always expected to come too soon for Saka and Odegaard.

“Martin again is getting better. It will be a matter of days, we believe," Arteta said.

"[Saka’s] hip is getting much better. Hopefully, very soon he will be with us.”

Max Dowman missed out with ankle ligament damage, while it remains to be seen if Mikel Merino will feature again this season due to a foot injury.
