Arsenal defender Katie Reid has sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury and will miss the remainder of the season.

The Gunners confirmed the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The 19-year-old sustained the injury during a recent training session. She will soon require surgery before beginning the lengthy rehabilitation process. Reid will have the full support of the Arsenal medical team throughout her recovery.

Reid is a product of the Arsenal academy system and she signed her first professional contract with the club back in October 2024. The youngster made her senior debut for the North Londoners in a Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Bristol City earlier that year.

This season was set to be Reid’s breakout campaign as a senior Arsenal player. She forced her way into the side in the early weeks of the season and received her first senior England call-up last month. Reid’s development is now being placed on hold with the player having to overcome the challenge of a long-term injury.

Reid will play an important role in cheering Arsenal on from the sidelines in the coming months as the club look to build on last season’s UEFA Women’s Champions league title success.
