Beth Mead rescues a late point for the Gunners
Vivianne Miedema scored on her return to Emirates Stadium as Arsenal drew 2-2 with Manchester City in their WSL opener.
After Frida Maanum had given Arsenal an early lead, Miedema equalised for new club City in the first half when her shot took a heavy deflection.
The Netherlands international, who was allowed to leave Arsenal when he contract expired in the summer, did not celebrate the goal.
City then went ahead in the second half through Jess Park but Beth Mead equalised late on for Arsenal and both teams had to settle for a point.

Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall said: “Overall in the game I think we had the better chances but from the situation that we were in, one goal down, for the team morale and the incredible will to turn the game around and getting a late goal to equalise, it was pretty fair.”
Elsewhere, Tottenham thrashed newly-promoted Crystal Palace 4-0.
Hayley Raso opened the scoring on her Spurs debut before second-half strikes from Jess Naz, Drew Spence and Olga Ahtinen.
