Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for the highly rated youngster, although they may prioritise alternative options.

Arsenal leading the race to sign Christian Kofane?

Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League table with 70 points from 31 matches and are strong favourites to secure their first league title in over a decade.

Despite scoring 61 goals so far, Mikel Arteta is keen to add further depth to his attacking unit.

Gabriel Jesus has struggled with injuries and has managed just two goals this season, while his long-term future at the club remains uncertain.

Christian Falk has told CFBayern that Arsenal are expected to make a formal offer for Kofane during the summer transfer window.

Florian Plettenberg claimed that Leverkusen are believed to value the striker between £52.3m and £61m, while the player’s agent, Eric Depolo thinks the 19-year-old is worth £87.3m.

“He is a €100 million player. With Kofane, Arsenal would have a top striker for the next ten years,” said Depolo in a recent interview.

No competition from Bayern Munich?

Bayern Munich are expected to sign a backup striker to Harry Kane, as they are unlikely to continue with Nicolas Jacksonfollowing his loan spell from Chelsea.

The Senegal international is set to return to his parent club after failing to make a significant impact in Germany.

Kofane is regarded as one of the most promising young forwards in Europe, having made 25 Bundesliga appearances this season, including 10 starts, while scoring five goals and providing three assists.

Falk adds that although Bayern have shown interest, they are not prepared to enter a bidding war with Arsenal for the striker.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund recently addressed the speculation but declined to offer any concrete indication regarding a potential move.

“I believe there are always discussions taking place in all sorts of directions, or that people talk to one another in the transfer market. But we have made no concrete statements on the matter. We do not engage in speculation or anything of the sort,” Freund explained.

With Bayern reluctant to escalate their interest, Arsenal appear to have a clear opportunity to secure the signing of the highly rated youngster this summer.
