Arsenal’s transfer radar is lighting up again – and this time, it’s Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo in sharp focus. As confirmed by TeamTalk, the Gunners are preparing to step up their pursuit of the versatile Cameroonian forward, who has been instrumental for Thomas Frank’s side. With an asking price of £50m, Mbeumo isn’t a bargain buy – but he could be the catalyst Mikel Arteta needs to sharpen his attack next season.
Brentford’s frontman has become a vital cog in their attacking unit, particularly in the wake of Ivan Toney’s absence earlier this season. Mbeumo has returned 15 goals and five assists in 29 Premier League games, showcasing not just efficiency but consistency. His ability to cut inside from the right and find the back of the net with regularity makes him a clear fit for Arteta’s system – especially in matches where Bukayo Saka is either marked out or rested.

At 25, Mbeumo is entering his peak years. That age bracket – combined with Premier League experience and versatility across the front line – makes the £50m valuation more understandable. What Arsenal fans will admire most is his adaptability: able to play wide or centrally, he would offer depth without limiting other key forwards.
Arsenal won’t have a clear path to Mbeumo, though. Liverpool are monitoring him closely as a potential Salah successor, should their Egyptian talisman leave. Newcastle are also believed to be gathering intelligence on the Brentford ace.
“Brentford view Mbeumo as a key player but are bracing themselves in case he does depart,” TeamTalk report. The Bees’ pragmatic recruitment model means they’ll sell at the right price, but only on their terms.
With interest from top-four rivals, Arsenal will need to act decisively – as they did with Gabriel Jesus and Declan Rice. Dragging out negotiations could open the door for others.
If Arsenal want a more affordable option, they’re also exploring Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth. TeamTalk reveals that he could be available for £34–42m, making him the budget alternative to Mbeumo. Semenyo’s raw pace and direct style certainly offer promise, but he lacks Mbeumo’s polish in the final third.
Semenyo is also drawing glances from Manchester United and Tottenham, which complicates matters. While the Ghanaian has the potential to blossom under a manager like Arteta, he remains more of a project than a guaranteed hit.

This report further highlights Arsenal’s ambitious summer plans. The club also has its eye on Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi for midfield steel and Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP to bolster the frontline.
Arteta knows his side is close to something special. With a few key additions, Arsenal could transform from contenders to serial challengers.
If you’re an Arsenal supporter, this is the kind of rumour that gets the blood pumping. Bryan Mbeumo? The guy is a Premier League-proven weapon, and he’s not just padding stats in a bottom-half team – he’s leading Brentford’s line with class and conviction. At £50m, it’s a statement. Arsenal aren’t shopping in the bargain bin anymore – they’re shopping for trophies.
Mbeumo feels tailor-made for Arteta’s football: quick transitions, intelligent pressing, lethal in the channels. He could slot in seamlessly alongside Jesus, Saka, Martinelli and Trossard – or rotate across all three positions. And in those games where the team needs a goal out of nothing? That left-footed whip could be decisive.
Semenyo? Intriguing, but feels like a backup plan. Mbeumo’s ceiling is higher, his performances more consistent, and he’s ready to hit the ground running.
This is the kind of signing that signals Arsenal’s maturity in the market. No more panic buys, no more overpaying for potential. Get Mbeumo in, add Zubimendi to balance midfield, and go all-in for the title.
