On a dominant afternoon at the Emirates, Viktor Gyokeres firmly announced himself to the Arsenal faithful, and, according to Robbie from AFTV, rival fans have every reason to be “scared.” Speaking on the post-match fan cam after Arsenal’s 5-0 thrashing of Leeds, Robbie delivered an emphatic assessment of the Swedish striker’s impact.
“People were getting ready to troll him,” said Robbie, recalling the early miss from Gyokeres that saw rival supporters sharpening their celebrations. “But he scored two, took his penalty brilliantly and was a threat all game. He was bullying up defenders.”
Addressing the noise around the striker’s adaptation, Robbie acknowledged Gyokeres is still “raw to the league,” but stressed the importance of his brace: “I really, really wanted him to score ahead of the Anfield game. It was so important.”
Gyokeres’s physicality and hunger were on full display, with Robbie noting, “That’s what I liked about him… if that’s Havertz, he gives it to Max Dowman. But my man’s like, ‘Yo, you’re 15, but I’m the striker, brother. Stand down. Big man type.’”
Robbie praised the summer window orchestrated by Andrea Burra, saying, “The job that he’s done has been insane… it feels like a window we haven’t seen in maybe ever.” From squad balance to mentality, the tone was clear: Arsenal are equipped not just to compete, but to dictate.
The key takeaway was the squad’s depth. “Normally Saka comes off and we’re all going, ‘Oh my god, that’s it, it’s finished,’” Robbie remarked. “But Madueke done really well and then they brought Max Dman on and he was absolutely awesome.”
This strength in depth isn’t a luxury, but a necessity, as Robbie underlined: “You need squad depth. You need a big squad now to compete on all fronts.” The club’s ability to bring in impact players and manage rotation is shaping their potential title bid.
It wasn’t only Gyokeres making headlines. The emergence of ‘EZ’ was a moment of genuine emotion. “When he came out, he was looking around taking in the applause,” Robbie recalled. “Then he looked up and said, ‘Yo, God, only you could do this, man. I’m back.’”
The journey was what elevated the occasion. “He’s swam, man. He’s done so well that all these years later now he’s walking out onto that pitch at the Emirates,” said Robbie, visibly moved. “It was such a beautiful moment.”
When pressed on whether Eze should start against Liverpool, Robbie was clear. “I’d start him on the left hand side… he’s strong, he carries the ball brilliantly. He can become like a Saka on that left. He’s got so much skill, such a threat.”
Robbie didn’t hold back when discussing how Gyokeres is perceived outside Arsenal. “The reason why everybody’s ready to troll him, mock him and that, they’re scared,” he said. “If this guy cooks, we’re in trouble.”
And that fear, he argued, stems from Gyokeres’s potential within this specific Arsenal system: “With Arsenal’s defence and midfield, with our ability to create chances… we’ve got a problem here.”
He added, “He’s a proper striker,” reiterating that the criticism and mockery are a shield for anxiety among rival fans.
Arsenal’s academy also received glowing praise. Discussing Max Dman’s meteoric rise, Robbie said, “It’s mental that this kid is 15, man. The confidence… he’s making Wani look like an old man.”
He extended credit to the club’s infrastructure: “Those scouts and coaches at Hale End need their flowers. At Arsenal, you get a chance… there’s a pathway.”
“We’ve got to be really proud of that,” he concluded.
