WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via a media update from The Football Association this morning.
The 19-year-old was a second half substitute for England as they defeated Australia 3-0 at Pride Park in Derby on Tuesday evening but the player left the field after sustaining her injury around the 80-minute mark. After the game, England head coach Sarina Wiegman admitted that the initial signs didn’t look good.
Agyemang’s injury has now been fully-assessed and it has been confirmed that she has ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). She will require surgery before beginning the rehabilitation process. The forward will miss the remainder of the season.
At club level, Aygemang has been enjoying a second loan spell with Brighton & Hove Albion. She could now return to parent club Arsenal to begin her recovery, although talks between the two clubs are ongoing.
After her long-term injury was confirmed, Agyemang said “[I’m] disappointed that results show a torn ACL. I am so grateful for all the kind words and the support from everyone.
“Recovery starts now, I will be back stronger than before.
“In all things I give thanks to the Most High God. This test will surely turn into a testimony.”
Agyemang is one of the most highly-rated young prospects in world football and she was a UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 winner with England in the summer.
