Arsenal forward commits to Gunners amid January transfer rumours | OneFootball

Gabriel Jesus has insisted that his future remains with Arsenal until at least 2027, and he doesn’t want to return to Brazil right now.

Recent reports have revealed that Gabriel Jesus is targeting a return to full training and potential first-team action in December, following almost a year on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

Yet there have been some suggestions that the striker could be on the way out after that, with media reports that Arsenal are open to offers in January.

Palmeiras president Leila Pereira did nothing to quell the speculation, telling the media that Jesus will “soon” be “coming back home”. But the player himself has reaffirmed his commitment to Arsenal, insisting he doesn’t want to return to Brazil just yet.

“Every day, the [Arsenal] coach and the board say they’re eager for my return,” Jesus said this week. “I don’t see myself outside the club’s plans. I have a contract until 2027, and if it’s not renewed by then, I’ll be at the club at least until 2027.

“Palmeiras’ interest will always be there, both from them and from me. But there’s been nothing formal. It’s the natural interest of a kid who came through the Palmeiras youth system, went to Europe, and obviously wants to return one day. Everyone at the club knows that.

“When I feel like returning to Brazil, which isn’t the case right now, my desire is and always will be Palmeiras.”

Jesus was in excellent form before his injury, scoring six goals in six games leading up to his FA Cup start against Manchester United in January. If he returns playing anything like that, he’ll provide a big boost to Arsenal.

It’s also unlikely Arsenal will be able to get full value out of Jesus’ sale in January, given his recent injury issues and his extended absence from the pitch.

Unless the player pushes to leave, it only seems sensible to keep him until at least the summer window. With Jesus making it so clear that he sees his immediate future in north London, that’s what we should expect to happen.
