Premier League giants Arsenal have put an agreement in place with a member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga outfit Espanyol, to arrive in the case of Aaron Ramsdale’s departure.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Joan García as the player in question.
For those not familiar with his name, García is a 23-year-old goalkeeper, who is currently plying his trade with the aforementioned Espanyol.
He is fresh off a stellar close to the 2023/24 season, which saw the shot-stopper rack up ten clean sheets across 18 appearances, en route to the Periquitos booking their spot back in the top-flight of Spanish football.
And such exploits, evidently, did not go at all unnoticed at the aforementioned Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta and co. are on the lookout for reinforcements between the posts, with a view to the season ahead.
This comes with no.2 Aaron Ramsdale considered as increasingly likely to depart, amid widespread interest in the signature of the England international.
And, in the case of as much coming to fruition, the Gunners, it is claimed, have García in their grasp.
As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:
‘Arsenal have already reached [a] verbal agreement with Spanish goalkeeper Joan García on personal terms.’
An ensuing deal would still require thrashing out with Espanyol, but, owing to the considerable funds at the disposal of those behind the scenes at The Emirates, as much would likely not prove difficult to come by.
