Premier League club Arsenal have joined the race for Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes, as per a report published in Sport Witness. The club want to add him to their ranks in the summer to bolster their overall unit ahead of next season.
Joao Gomes joined Wolves from Flamengo in the winter of 2023 for a reported fee of €18.7m. Since then, his career has taken an upward curve. He has emerged as a reliable name in the Premier League and has cemented his spot in the side.

The Brazilian has featured in 31 games this season so far, scoring twice and providing an assist. He is averaging 3.7 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, and 0.8 clearances per game. His excellent defensive abilities help his teammates operate high on the pitch.
Gomes doesn’t like to overcomplicate things on the pitch and plays simple football. He asks for the ball in different positions and then tries to advance it forward. He joins the pack in the final third to support them in creating goal-scoring opportunities.
Arsenal want to lure Joao Gomes away as they look to reinforce their midfield unit. With Jorginho well into his thirties and the continuous injury concerns surrounding Thomas Partey, the club believe it’s time to bring in a fresh name to support Declan Rice.
However, the Gunners aren’t alone in the race for the 23-year-old midfielder. Manchester United are also keen on acquiring his services as they look to strengthen their midfield section to fight for titles next season. Wolves, on the other hand, won’t let Gomes leave that easily.
They will surely demand a premium fee to sanction the deal. From the player’s point of view, joining Arsenal would be a good move. It will help him further lift his career and fight for the top titles. However, everything depends upon the two clubs to finalize a deal.
