Arsenal dropped two surprise points at home to newly-promoted Crystal Palace despite a dominant display.

Manager Renée Slegers will be mystified as to why her team didn't manage to convert at least one of their chances in what is the kind of result that could look costly come the end of the season.

Indeed, the Gunners were dominant throughout the 90 minutes with a whopping 79% of possession against Palace which resulted in 30 shots of which nine were on target.

There was an element of bad luck too, Arsenal twice hit the woodwork including new signing Lisa Baum who scored in her debut and fired off the crossbar in this one.

Credit must go to the Palace defence too with Aimee Everett in particular putting in a battling performance. Goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin also did well to keep a second clean sheet in as many games.

It was 90 minutes then that for Palace will make them feel far more comfortable in the WSL after being so far off the pace last time. Arsenal meanwhile will know they can't afford to slip up many more times if they want to challenge for the title.
