Despite being under contract until 2027, Coman has struggled with injuries and has seen reduced playing time under manager Vincent Kompany.
The France international star, who is also being chased by Tottenham, is looking to leave Bayern Munich this summer after his successful spell in the Bundesliga.
The 28-year-old has been a brilliant servant for the German side and having experience of winning titles with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus in the past, his experience and winning mentality has impressed Mikel Arteta who is keen to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
Mick Brown has claimed that Arsenal are in talks with the representatives of the Frenchman.
“Coman has been impressive wherever he’s been,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s given a level of performance consistently for Bayern Munich, and the question now will be whether he can do it in the Premier League.
“He’s certainly a quality player, and one a number of teams have been looking at.
“I hear Arsenal are one of those, and they will have spoken to his agent and representatives to figure out whether he would be open to that move.
“Mikel Arteta wants to add experienced winners to his squad, and he’s certainly one of those.
“But Arsenal have to be convinced that he’s going to make a difference on the pitch.
“He cannot come and be a passenger based on his reputation like they’ve had with Raheem Sterling.
“That’s something the scouts have to figure out, they’ll have been watching him most weeks and they can assess whether his current ability matches his reputation.“

Injuries this season have hampered Arsenal’s title challenge and Arteta is keen on adding more depth to the squad.
Both their wide players, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, have spent a significant amount of time out with injuries this season.
During their absence, the club had to rely on Raheem Sterling who is not the same player anymore and youngster Ethan Nwaneri, who is far from a finished product at the moment.
Signing a player like Coman would add more firepower to Arsenal’s attack and increase their depth of the squad.
Another player being eyed by the Gunners for the wide attacking position is Bournemouth’s Antoine Semeyo
