Arsenal have opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a potential move for Jarell Quansah, according to Sky Sports.

The 23-year-old England international joined Leverkusen from Liverpool last summer, and a return to the Premier League could be on the table just a year on.

Mikel Arteta is seeking defensive reinforcements, with Jurrien Timber and William Saliba currently sidelined. Quansah can play centre-back and right-back, offering cover across the back line.

Leverkusen are understood to be reluctant to sell, and any deal would likely require a fee well above the €35 million they paid last year.

Liverpool inserted a buy-back clause when sanctioning his move to Germany, and Quansah is contracted to Die Werkself until 2030.
