All the transfer talk surrounding FC Barcelona is currently focused on Nico Williams, with the club making serious progress in signing the Athletic Club winger.
Having already roped in Joan Garcia from RCD Espanyol, the Blaugrana intend to close Nico’s signing just in time for their pre-season.
Amidst all this, there has been a significant development regarding the future of one of the players Barcelona have been heavily linked with in the recent past.
According to Matteo Moretto on ESPN, Thomas Partey is expected to leave Arsenal this summer as talks over a new contract are at a standstill.
The Ghanaian midfielder has been on the radars of Barcelona for a while now and is all set to depart the Emirates Stadium as a free agent.
Partey’s current contract with Arsenal stands to expire on June 30. The Gunners had been hoping to retain his services and held negotiations over a renewal but they have not gone according to plans.

The report states that talks are at a complete standstill and as such Partey is expected to depart on June 30.
As mentioned earlier, Barça have held an interest in the former Atletico Madrid midfielder. However, it must be noted that signing a new midfielder is not a priority at the moment.
Deco and Hansi Flick are working on the Nico Williams deal for now, following which a new right-back could be on the agenda.
As it is, Barcelona have a stocked midfield department with Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Marc Casado, and Marc Bernal, who is set to return from injury in the coming weeks. Eric Garcia has also filled as a pivot whenever needed.
But, it will be interesting to see whether the development over Partey’s future changes things and the La Liga champions decide to act.
