Premier League champions Arsenal are managing a growing list of injuries during the current international break, with captain Martin Odegaard now a doubt for Norway's upcoming fixtures.

The midfielder suffered an ankle injury during the closing stages of a 2-1 defeat to Portugal on Sunday, following a challenge from behind by Bernardo Silva. Odegaard described the tackle as one that 'doesn't belong on a football field' and was seen limping from the stadium.

Norway manager Stale Solbakken confirmed that the national team's medical staff are in near-constant communication with Arsenal about the player's fitness.

Odegaard did not participate in Tuesday morning's training session because his ankle remained too painful. Assistant coach Brede Hangeland noted that the player reported less pain than the previous day and was in good spirits during breakfast.

The uncertainty regarding his availability for the Nations League match against Wales increased on Wednesday afternoon, as Odegaard was not seen in social media photos of the squad's arrival in Wales.

This injury adds to Arsenal's concerns this break, as Kai Havertz has already returned to the club early due to a hamstring injury sustained during Germany's first match. Additionally, Ezri Konsa missed England training on Monday citing a minor issue.
