Martin Ødegaard has been named Arsenal’s player of the season, capping off a brilliant year for the Norwegian.

In his first season as club captain, the creative midfielder helped spearhead the Gunners’ title challenge, scoring 15 goals in addition to seven assists.

This made him the club’s joint-top scorer in the Premier League alongside Gabriel Martinelli, and the first Arsenal midfielder to hit 15 league goals in a campaign since Cesc Fàbregas in 2009/10.

He has duly been rewarded for his efforts, beating off competition from Martinelli and Bukayo Saka to pick up 55% of the votes and take home the award that had been won by Saka in each of the previous two campaigns.

The 24-year-old Norwegian international will be hoping to lead the Gunners to one better next season and claim their first league title in 20 years.
