Arsenal booked a spot in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup by beating Brighton.

Ethan Nwaneri put Arsenal ahead early in the second half and Bukayo Saka came off the bench to seal the win late on.

The 15-year-old caused Brighton’s defence problems and helped the Gunners navigate their way past the fourth round.

Made a good save early on to deny Georginio Rutter - and that set the tone for his performance. Distribution a bit shaky at times, but an impressive display nonetheless.

Looked fit and full of running, which is a big plus for Arsenal. Overlapped well and linked up nicely with Dowman.

Cristhian Mosquera 7

Continues to look like an absolute bargain, especially in the current market. Bar one sloppy moment in the second half, he was cool under pressure and made some great last-ditch tackles.

Piero Hincapie 7

Handed his full debut and put in a solid performance. Comfortable on the ball and aggressive in the tackle. Promising.

Myles Lewis-Skelly 7

A little loose in possession early on, but got better as the game wore on. Grabbed an assist by setting up Nwaneri to score.

Ethan Nwaneri 8

Only his second start of the season and he made the most of it. Opened the scoring by finishing off a well-worked move.

Christian Norgaard 6

Came into the team as Martin Zubimendi was rested. Defensively solid, but prone to being sloppy in possession occasionally.

Mikel Merino 7

Captain for the night and performed well in midfield. Helped created Nwaneri’s goal with a delightful backheel.

At just 15 years old he made history by becoming the youngest player to start a first-team game for Arsenal. Electric all night and, rightly, got a standing ovation when he came off.

Andre Harriman-Annous 7

A surprise debutant and had a tough assignment up against Brighton’s three centre-backs. Worked tirelessly and had some bright moments. It was his saved shot that led to Saka’s goal.

Eberechi Eze 7

Quiet in the first half, but much more lively after the break. Looked at home on the left flank and combined well with Nwaneri.
