Arsenal have had a long-term interest in Igor Tyjon, and they are making a move once again for the 17-year-old.

Arsenal are plotting a late move for one of Blackburn Rovers' young stars, with a seven-figure bid set to come in from the Premier League leaders before Monday's 7pm deadline.

The Gunners are looking to add to their youth setup, with Igor Tyjon a player who has been on their radar for quite some time, and while Rovers have been keen on keeping hold of the striker, his contract situation has left them extremely vulnerable.

Now, Arsenal are keen to take the 17-year-old to the Emirates Stadium and end his association with the Lancashire outfit.

However, Blackburn are only happy to work with Mikel Arteta's side if they are able to bring in a striker of their own before the transfer window comes to an end.

Arsenal set to bid £1m for Igor Tyjon from Blackburn Rovers

Arsenal's interest comes from a fresh report from Alan Nixon, who has stated that they are preparing to offer Rovers over £1m for the teenage striker, who has played for both England and Poland at youth level.

Tyjon's contract is set to come to an end at the end of the season, and if a deal is not agreed today, then he will be able to leave on a free at the end of the summer - although Blackburn will be due compensation if this does happen.

The 17-year-old rejected a professional deal from the Championship side, and his two-year scholarship is set to come to an end in June, and this is the final opportunity for Valerien Ismael's side to bring in a substantial fee for their highly-regarded forward.

Nixon has also stated that Blackburn's desire to bring in a striker of their own is failing currently.

How Valerien Ismael feels about Igor Tyjon's Blackburn Rovers future

While Ismael's future itself is not certain, with Slaven Bilic potentially set to replace him in the dugout at Ewood Park, he has spoken about where Tyjon's Blackburn career currently stands.

Ahead of Rovers' 1-0 defeat to Hull City, he said (via: Lancashire Telegraph): "I don't know. The last thing on my stand, I've been told that he didn't want to extend his contract. So from now, I think that everything could happen with him. I think that we show a lot, not only him, but all the young players, that since I came, I spoke about creating a pathway for the young players.

"I have done it so far, and it was for everyone to take the chance to show up at some point. But at some point, we need commitment from the players as well. I can only go in one way with him. I think it's just the situation where we are with him."
