Arsenal are stepping up their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola. According to The Independent, the Gunners are ready to submit a formal offer for the Frenchman.

Arsenal are determined to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s attack this summer, with Barcola emerging as one of the club’s leading targets following another impressive campaign.

Despite being behind Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the pecking order, he still managed 13 goals and seven assists in 49 appearances.

The former Lyon forward was looking unstoppable in the first half of the season until an injury slowed his momentum.

The 23-year-old is guilty of missing many big chances, but his ability to find space in the opposition backline is a useful weapon.

Barcola marked his FIFA World Cup debut with a goal in France’s 3-1 victory over Senegal days ago.

His brilliant run and composed chipped finish underlined why he is one of Europe’s most exciting attacking talents.

Arteta is keen to add quality and competition across his forward line, with Barcola viewed as a player capable of immediately challenging for a starting role on the left flank.

He is a much-needed upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in Barcola in recent months.

However, Arsenal appear to be making the strongest move as they seek another statement signing.

PSG would ideally like to retain Barcola as he is a dangerous force under Luis Enrique, but the Champions League winners are also open to reshaping their attack.

PSG’s interest in Arsenal-linked duo Julian Alvarez and Morgan Rogers is reportedly a reason why they are open to selling.

Despite lifting the Premier League title and reaching the Champions League final, where they were beaten by PSG, the north London club wants another go for Europe’s biggest honours.

A move for Barcola would be a major statement of intent as Arsenal look to retain their Premier League crown and finally claim that elusive Champions League title.
