Arsenal are ready to offer Gabriel Martinelli as part of a deal to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.

Alvarez is high on Arsenal’s summer wish-list as the Gunners look to build on their Premier League title win. The North Londoners are keen to add a statement striker signing and Alvarez has long been on the club’s radar.

The Argentina international has scored 49 goals in 106 games since joining Atletico from Manchester City and is viewed as an ideal complement to Mikel Arteta’s current options.

His emergence as one of Europe’s most reliable goalscorers and previous experience of English football add to his appeal.

Arsenal are not alone in pursuing Alvarez, with Barcelona frontrunners for a deal. Paris Saint-Germain have also monitored his situation closely, with Arsenal plotting ways to win the race.

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal hope the offer of Martinelli in exchange can help them move ahead of the competition. The Brazil international has scored only once in the Premier League this season and has lost his place as a regular.

His performances in Europe have been improved, with six goals in the Champions League, and his effervescent style could suit Atletico, who need to replace Antoine Griezmann and loanee Nico Gonzalez.
