Arsenal set £17m+ asking price for Napoli target | OneFootball

Napoli are interested in signing Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal this summer, but the Gunners are ready to set a firm stance over the terms of such a deal.

Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte broke the news on Thursday that Serie A club Napoli are looking to sign Gabriel Jesus, with Arsenal asking for a minimum fee of €20m (£17.2m).

The terms of the deal are reportedly being evaluated by all parties, with no progress yet in negotiations. But Napoli’s interest is described as ‘very strong’, and Jesus reportedly considers it a possibility for him.

Gianluca Di Marzio then confirmed that Napoli are talking to Jesus’ entourage, and head coach Massimiliano Allegri is a long-term fan of the player. Jesus is reportedly considered a potential solution if Lorenzo Lucca and Romelu Lukaku leave.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Napoli have indeed made contact with Jesus’ camp, with Arsenal insisting they’ll only consider a permanent move, not a loan. Jesus’ contract ends in 2027, so that makes sense.

Romano points out that Jesus and Allegri are represented by the same agency.

Sky Sport Italia that the situation could materialise into something more concrete in the coming hours, again repeating that Napoli are evaluating the terms of a deal as they work on exits for Lucca and Lukaku.

Jesus has had a good record in his limited games against Serie A opposition in the Champions League. He’s appeared against Italian opponents five times, scoring three goals and assisting one, averaging 84.5 minutes per goal contribution.

If the striker could maintain anything close to that average in a full Serie A season, he’d be a massive success at Napoli.
