Arsenal sign highly-rated midfielder

Arsenal have announced the signing of 16-year-old midfielder Axel Donczew from Cardiff City.

The Wales youth international joins the Gunners as part of their first-year scholarship intake and has also signed a pre-contract agreement which will see him move onto professional terms with the club.

Donczew made history last season when he became Cardiff’s youngest-ever player after making his professional debut at just 15 years and 234 days old.

The midfielder featured in a Welsh derby against Newport County in the EFL Trophy.

Donczew had spent his entire career with Cardiff before making the move to north London, while he has also represented Wales at Under-15 and Under-16 level.
