Ryan Taylor reports for Football.London that Arsenal have been given two full days off after Saturday’s victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the Gunners set for a rest in midweek.
Originally, the upcoming midweek was supposed to contain Arsenal’s League Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace, but the match ended up being moved to the following Tuesday.
So whilst Cardiff City will face Chelsea in the quarter-finals on Tuesday, and on Wednesday Manchester City will play Brentford and Newcastle United will play Fulham, Arsenal will get some much-needed time off.

The break should be very welcome, considering how frequently Arsenal have been playing matches since the November international break.
The Gunners have played a match every weekend and every midweek since the break ended on November 23rd, and it’s worth mentioning that many of the players were also in action with their countries before that.
The club are clearly trying to make the most of the rest opportunity by giving the players two days off.

It’s likely to be Arsenal’s last break for a while. If they’re eliminated from the League Cup, they’ll have a rest in the midweek on January 12th-13th. If not, their next rest will be mid-February at the earliest (depending on FA Cup progression and avoiding the Champions League play-off round).
We can only hope that Arsenal’s injury list thins down a bit over the next few games, giving Mikel Arteta close to a full squad for the busy period coming up.
