Arsenal star backed by Noni Madueke to shine at the Emirates

After Eberechi Eze’s unveiling at the Emirates, before Arsenal’s 5–0 demolition of Leeds, the world now knows the Gunners have a new number 10. For Mikel Arteta, he has finally secured his man. Many believe he now holds the final piece of the jigsaw for his project, as Arsenal may have found the perfect fix for their low and mid-block frustrations.

Reports suggest Eze’s default role in this Arsenal side will be left central midfield, but Noni Madueke has hinted that he could challenge for another position. The summer signing’s comments about the ex-Crystal Palace man strongly point to the 27-year-old being a capable option on the left wing.

Madueke relishes Eze competition

Speaking on BBC’s 606 phone-in show, Arsenal’s number 20 was full of praise for the club’s latest addition, admitting:

“Yeah, no, competition is great.

“I think if you want to do something special or something you need [competition] and yeah. But on another note, yeah, it’s great to have him [Eze] here.

“He’s a great person and an even better player. So he’s going to do fantastically well, I’m sure.”

Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli appear to be losing their grip on the left-wing role. Arsenal’s left-hand side has struggled to pull its weight for some time, holding the team back.

Left wing rejuvenation

Arteta has already trialled the versatile Madueke on the left wing, where he looked sharp against Leeds. Now, with Eze also in the mix, Arsenal could finally unlock the full potential of that flank.

With Madueke preparing for the battle (though Madueke will most likely be Bukayo Saka’s replacement on the right-wing while he’s Saka’s injured), and Eze ready to compete, supporters might witness the best version of that position yet. Gooners have long dreamt of moments like this.

If, as Madueke suggests, Eze hits top form, he will thrive at Arsenal. And if called upon, the Englishman possesses the flair to become a one-man show capable of making this Arsenal side as lethal as it has ever been.

Looking forward to the Liverpool match Gooners?
