Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice is being isolated from his England teammates after he fell ill, according to the Daily Mail.
The Gunners star played through the injury barrier for the Emirates Stadium last term and is currently suffering with a hamstring and lower back issue.
Rice is set to report late for pre-season with Arsenal due to his World Cup engagement, and manager Mikel Arteta will hope the North London club can hit the ground running next season.
The England international has recently gone down with a bug, and FA officials have taken steps to isolate him from the main group.
It is an attempt to contain what could be a potentially damaging outbreak as the Three Lions prepare to take on Norway in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
Rice has missed two days of training in a row due to the sickness.
It remains to be seen whether he will be available to feature against Norway but those in the England camp are confident the illness has been contained.
Arsenal will begin their summer preparation in Girona on August 1 and are set to be without Rice, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke.
Players involved in the World Cup will begin a three-week holiday after they get eliminated from the competition.
As a result, the Gunners quartet will not be available for their club’s opening game of pre-season.
They will almost certainly miss the second pre-season game on August 5 in Dublin against Real Betis if England advance to the semi-finals.
Norway’s Martin Odegaard, France’s William Saliba, Spain’s David Raya, Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino and Belgium’s Leandro Trossard are also set to be unavailable for the start of pre-season.
Spain take on Belgium tonight for a place in the semis while France have already booked a spot in the last-four following a 2-0 victory over Morocco last night.
