Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard has withdrawn from the Belgium squad due to an injury, according to an update from his national team.
The Gunners star started against Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup yesterday but Mikel Arteta withdrew him in the 82nd minute as the Emirates Stadium club attempted a comeback.
Trossard looked fine after the game and was not taken off due to any knock, but it appears the Arsenal star has picked up an injury and more details are expected in the coming hours.
The Belgium international missed their last league game against Everton but returned for the Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen last Tuesday.
He was fit heading into the game at Wembley yesterday but will miss the friendly games against the United States on Saturday and Mexico next Wednesday.
Arsenal return to action on April 4 with a trip to St Mary’s Stadium to take on Southampton in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup before a trip to Portugal to face Sporting CP in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-finals tie.
It remains to be seen whether Trossard will be available as the severity of his injury is unknown, but Arteta will be hoping for the best.
The trio of Eberechi Eze, Jurrien Timber and William Saliba have all pulled out of international duty due to injuries, while England are monitoring Noni Madueke after he left Wembley with a significant strapping on his left wrist yesterday after playing with a cast.
Arsenal cannot afford further injuries right now and will pray their stars on international duty return unscathed.
They need to finish the campaign strongly and will need their best players available for the crucial run-in.
