The Premier League have announced the five nominees for their Player of the Matchweek award, with Arsenal’s Max Dowman joining Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, West Ham United’s Konstantinos Mavropanos, and Spurs’ Richarlison in the running.
Dowman was nominated after he made the difference in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Everton, with his cross leading to Viktor Gyokeres‘ opening goal before the midfielder himself scored the Gunners’ second.
As well as being a big boost in the Premier League title race, the goal was also massive on a personal level, as it was Dowman’s first for Arsenal and made him the competition’s youngest-ever goalscorer.
You can vote for Dowman here until 12:00 GMT on Wednesday, March 18th.

On top of his Player of the Matchweek nomination, Dowman was also included in various Premier League Teams of the Week, and in La Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week.
Only Dowman, Fernandes, and Mavropanos made the European Team of the Week for their Premier League performances over the weekend, so it’s not just in England that the 16-year-old is starting to get some recognition.

Arsenal’s focus will now turn to the Champions League, and the hope is that the team won’t need Dowman to bail them out in the dying embers of the game once again. But it seems he’s up to the task if called upon.
