Arsenal could be without Ben White for Carabao Cup tie

Arsenal appear to have been handed a new injury scare, with Ben White not spotted in training ahead of the Carabao Cup clash against Ipswich.

White started for Arsenal in their 2-0 win over Sunderland at the weekend as Mikel Arteta named an unchanged side for the second Premier League game in a row.

However, the defender did not complete the full 90 minutes as he was visibly struggling with his groin towards the end of the first half, before being replaced during the interval by the returning Jurrien Timber.

There was no update on White from Arteta in the post-match press conference, though the 28-year-old has since emerged as a major doubt for the Gunners’ next fixture away at Ipswich on Tuesday night.

As Arsenal uploaded images from Monday’s training session at London Colney, there was no sign of White and early suggestions are he will not be involved at Portman Road.

Given the right-back has started all six games this season - including the Community Shield win over Manchester City - there was always a chance he would have been rested for the cup tie anyway.

Although, with the severity of the knock still to be determined, it remains to be seen if White will feature for Arsenal before the extended international break or if a call-up to the England squad is possible.

Arteta is hopeful of having Cristhian Mosquera - an option at right-back should White be forced to miss out - available again as the Spaniard has been sidelined since limping off during the win over Aston Villa on August 31.

Though, the Spaniard’s muscle injury is not thought to be serious.

“He's doing really well,” Arteta said of Mosquera before the Sunderland win. “Let's see if he can get this game or the next one. It will be around that time I think.”
