Arsenal are continuing to monitor RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, after a failed move to sign the forward during the summer.
Sesko was the leading transfer target for Arsenal as Mikel Arteta sought to sign a centre-forward during the summer window, though the Slovenian turned down interest from the Premier League to sign a new deal with Leipzig.
The 21-year-old has started the new season in good form with six goals in nine appearances, in addition to a hat-trick for the national side against Kazakhstan during September’s international break.
Sesko’s age, goal record and physical profile have made the 6ft 5in striker a target for several leading clubs with Chelsea having also considered his signing in the summer.
Arteta wants to add another goalscorer to his options despite the impressive form of Kai Havertz, who has scored six goals in all competitions in 2024/25. Eddie Nketiah’s exit for Crystal Palace and Gabriel Jesus’ underwhelming form have left Arsenal short of depth.
Sesko joined RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg in 2023 and netted 14 goals in 31 league games during his debut campaign in Germany. His new deal in the summer reportedly removed a release clause worth around £55m.
