Arsenal striker drew summer transfer interest from Spain | OneFootball

Viktor Gyokeres drew interest from clubs from Spain and elsewhere over the summer, but Arsenal set a firm stance against the striker’s sale.

Fabrizio Romano reports that there were top clubs interested in Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres over the summer, especially from Spain, with multiple enquiries over the player’s potential availability.

But the Gunners reportedly insisted that Gyokeres was not for sale, that they trust the player, and that they want him to stay.

Whilst Gyokeres’ start to the new season has been difficult so far, Romano adds that Arsenal maintain that they expect the striker to be very important this season.

The same source adds that it’s not possible to predict what might happen in 2027, and that the right club coming in for Gyokeres with a big offer could change the picture. But Arsenal did close the doors to a move over the summer.

Gyokeres has only made two starts so far this season, one in the League Cup and one in the Champions League.

The 28-year-old’s total Premier League minutes in 2026/27 have been limited to just two brief substitute appearances, and he also only played 15 minutes in the Community Shield against Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta isn’t freezing out Gyokeres completely. We saw the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli being excluded from the squad at the start of the season, and that hasn’t happened to Gyokeres once. But he has definitely struggled for time on the pitch in comparison to 2025/26.

Given the current fitness concerns around Kai Havertz, it may not be long until Gyokeres gets another chance to start in the Premier League. But he does need to take it, or the exit rumours will continue to circulate.
