Viktor Gyokeres subject to plenty of transfer interest despite goalless start to new season

European and Saudi clubs are queueing up to sign struggling Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swede has not managed to score in five appearances before the international break, and his performances have been far from convincing.

Just over a year after signing from Sporting CP in a £64m deal, he has slipped down the pecking order, with Kai Havertz establishing himself as the preferred option.

His poor form, though, has led some clubs to wonder whether they can take advantage of his situation and move to bring him in on loan or a permanent deal.

Per reports in Caught Offside, Juventus, AC Milan, Al Ahli and Al Ittihad are all interested in bringing him on board.

Juventus are lacking an elite striker after losing Jonathan David to Atletico Madrid this summer, while Gyokeres could stand to join forces with Ruben Amorim at AC Milan. To join Al Ahli would see him join forces with Ivan Toney. Al Ittihad have yet to replace Karim Benzema.

It remains unclear whether Arsenal would be willing to let Gyokeres leave in the January transfer window or next summer. It is also not clear whether Gyokeres is looking to pursue a new challenge.

As things stand, he is an Arsenal player at least until January and will hope more opportunities to impress will come his way. They likely will, given the Gunners are competing on four fronts this season.

In the meantime, he will have a chance to build some confidence as he joins up with Sweden for the September-October international break. Graham Potter’s side will face Romania twice, bookending further Nations League fixtures with Poland and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
