Arsenal suffers transfer blow as target agrees new Real Madrid deal

Arsenal have been interested in a move for Arda Guler for a long time and have been hoping for an opportunity to bring him to the Emirates, particularly now that Jose Mourinho is the manager of Real Madrid.

The Portuguese manager is regarded as one of the best in the business, but there was always a possibility that he would not consider Guler important to his plans and could open the door for the midfielder to leave the Spanish giants.

Last season, the Turkiye international struggled for regular game time, and Arsenal even attempted to sign him in January. The Gunners had previously taken a similar approach when they signed Martin Odegaard several years ago.

However, Guler remained in Madrid and is now performing well under Mourinho, which may have surprised some observers. While his improved form is positive for Real Madrid, it represents disappointing news for Arsenal.

Real Madrid reward Guler’s form

The Spanish club have recognised Guler’s development and is now prepared to reward his performances with a new long term contract. His improved standing at the club has made an Arsenal move increasingly unlikely.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid have agreed a new long-term contract with the midfielder, effectively ending Arsenal’s hopes of adding him to their squad. The agreement represents a clear show of confidence in the Turkish international.

Guler’s progress under Mourinho has also strengthened his position at the Spanish club. Rather than looking for a new challenge, he appears settled in Madrid and is continuing to establish himself as an important player.

Arsenal likely to abandon pursuit

For Arsenal, the new agreement means they will likely have to forget about signing Guler when this season ends. The Gunners have admired his qualities for some time, but his improved status at Real Madrid has changed the situation significantly.

The midfielder now appears set to remain with the Spanish side for a long time, giving Arsenal little reason to expect an opportunity to sign him in the near future.

Guler’s decision to stay and his continued development under Mourinho have therefore closed the door on Arsenal’s pursuit. The Gunners may have hoped the manager’s arrival could create an opening, but instead, his form has convinced Real Madrid to strengthen their commitment to him.
