Martin Zubimendi remains a top target for Arsenal this summer but according to the latest reports, the Gunners have yet to complete the deal with Real Madrid lurking.
According to the Daily Mirror, while the transfer is “as good as done” with a framework for the deal in place but a full agreement is yet to be finalised which leaves the possibility of a late swoop from Real Madrid, who are keen on the midfielder.
After previously being linked to Liverpool last summer, the Gunners have continued their pursuit and hope to seal a €60 million deal later this year.
Arsenal hope working with compatriot Mikel Arteta will be enough to convince the Spain international to move to north London.
The report adds that Arsenal could pay slightly more than that release clause but instead spread the cost of the transfer over a longer period because of profit and sustainability rules.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are said to be lining up a shock summer bid for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, as reported by the Daily Star.
Fernandes, who has 16 goals and 16 assists in all competitions this season, is seen as potential replacement for Luka Modric who is expected to leave at the end of next season.
Los Blancos will reportedly need to pay around €100 million to secure the 30-year-old, who is under contract until 2027.
Elsewhere, United reportedly had a scout present at Como v Empoli to monitor former Spanish youth international Assane Diao. The 19-year-old, who made his debut for Senegal earlier this month, joined Como in January and has scored five goals in 12 matches.
The winger is contracted with Cesc Fabregas’ side until June 2029, but has been heavily linked with another transfer this summer, according to Nicolo Schira.
Fabrizio Romano reports that AFC Bournemouth will look to turn Kepa Arrizabalaga’s loan move from Chelsea permanent this summer.
The Spanish goalkeeper, 30, has played 22 of the Cherries’ 29 Premier League games so far, as they continue their fight for European football next campaign.
