Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera has confirmed he will leave the club, ahead of his expected move to Arsenal.

The 21-year-old, speaking outside the club’s training ground while leaving in his car, said: “Valencia is my home and it always will be.

“I arrived when I was 12, and now I’m leaving as a grown man, a little sad because you’ve been here your whole life, but decisions in football are like that. Now a new era begins.”

Asked about his next club, Mosquera said: “I prefer the club to talk first, and then whatever happens, it will happen. It’s exciting, but it’s also sad.”

Mosquera is now expected to travel to England ahead of completing his move to Gunners, in a deal which will be worth around £13m plus add-ons.

Meanwhile, the Sun say Bayern Munich will rival Arsenal for the signature of Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Ebere Eze.

Elsewhere, the Athletic say that there remains a significant gap between Brentford and Manchester United’s valuation of forward Bryan Mbeumo.

United have been trying to sign the Bees forward this summer but have been unable to agree a deal and there is said to have been little progress over the past couple of weeks.

L’Equipe also say United have approached representatives of Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso over a possible deal.

Sky Sports say Newcastle United have “stepped up” their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

The Bundesliga side are said to value the striker at £86m, with talks taking place over what would be a club-record deal for Newcastle.

Jordan Henderson has completed his move to Brentford on a free transfer, signing a two-year deal with the club.

“When we became aware of Jordan’s availability, it was a pretty simple decision,” Brentford boss Keith Andrews said.

“We did our due diligence around his recent games to see where he is: he’s still phenomenally fit and he’s still phenomenally motivated to achieve things in the game, having already achieved a lot.

“He will drive standards and be a brilliant addition to the squad.”

And the Telegraph say Nottingham Forest have made Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey a primary target this summer.
