Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will get at least £100 million to sign players this summer, according to Sky Sports. The Gunners boss will also get funds generated from player sales.

Arsenal are determined to break their trophy drought under Arteta next season and have started making transfer plans. However, with only £100 million, the Gunners might not do much.

The North London club is reportedly close to sealing a €60 million deal to sign Real Sociedad star Maritn Zubimendi, leaving less than £50 million in the coffers.

Arsenal still have holes to plug all over the pitch, and that sum does not come close to what they need if they want to challenge for titles next term.

The 13-time English top-flight champions could use another central midfielder, a left-winger, a right-winger to deputise for Bukayo Saka and, most importantly, a centre-forward.

Also, Arsenal want Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia to compete with David Raya between the posts for the starting berth.

Except Arsenal plan on selling dreams to their fans for another season, they must loosen the purse strings. Realistically, the current budget falls well short of what is needed.

A top-class centre-forward like Viktor Gyokeres will cost north of £60 million. Newcastle United will demand double that amount for Arteta’s first-choice target Alexander Isak.

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Real Madrid winger Rodrygo Goes, who has decided to leave Los Blancos this summer. He will cost a fortune.

Even if the club manages to shift players like Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Leandro Trossard, it may not add enough to the Arsenal coffers. The hierarchy needs to step up.

Manchester City are planning a massive summer rebuild with Florian Wirtz, Morgan Gibbs-White, Destiny Udogie, Andrea Cambiaso, Tino Livramento, and Tijjani Reijnders on their radar.

With financial cases hanging over their head, they are still ready to show ambition and reinforce the team with quality players to challenge for titles.

Even notoriously tight-fisted Premier League champions Liverpool plan to spend heavily this summer. Arsenal cannot afford to be left behind.

If the Gunners want to contend next season, investment must match ambition. Otherwise, fans may have to endure another year of promises without prizes.
