Mikel Arteta revealed Rob Edwards told him he believes Arsenal are the best side in the Premier League "by far".

Arsenal dropped two points to Edwards' Wolves side on Wednesday night despite taking a 2-0 lead at Molineux.

Tom Edozie struck a last-gasp equaliser to dent Arsenal's title hopes, making it just two wins for the Gunners in their last seven Premier League matches.

After the match, Wolves' official TikTok account mocked Arsenal with clips of them taking their time over set-pieces and going down injured.

Asked about that post, Arteta instead brought up praise from Edwards, who has been close with ever since the pair were on the same UEFA Pro License course.

"What I read is the press conference of Rob, the manager," Arteta said.

"Before the game what he said about us and then what he text me. That he thinks that we are the best team in the league by far.

"I'm much more interested about that than any other thing that I don't know who post or whatever, especially because I don't read it."

The Gunners sit five points clear of Manchester City, but they have played a game more and still have to travel to face Pep Guardiola's side in April.

Arsenal have had two tough matches against Wolves since Edwards took charge. They needed a 94th-minute winner to beat them at the Emirates in December.

Those struggles have come despite Wolves having just one league win all season and it still being possible they finish as the worst side in Premier League history.

Arteta suggested that after watching back the performance at Molineux, it was not as bad as he remembered, but he was still frustrated with the levels they produced.

"You know you put so much [into it]," Arteta said.

"You look at the first half and actually [watching back] what happened in the game and I was very [strong] post-match as well about the standards we showed, it was much better than expected. But it's still not enough to the standards that we required.

"Very difficult to understand. So it is a shock in the system."
