Mikel Arteta is set for a defensive reshuffle as Arsenal prepare to face Brentford, with first-choice centre-back Gabriel Magalhães ruled out with a thigh injury. His partner William Saliba is also a major doubt after missing the weekend’s draw with Chelsea due to a knock. Consequently, the manager is expected to stick with the makeshift partnership of Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié, who started at Stamford Bridge.

There is positive news in midfield and attack, however. Captain Martin Ødegaard is in line to return to the starting lineup after making a cameo appearance off the bench at the weekend. Up front, summer signing Viktor Gyökeres is pushing for his first start since returning from a hamstring injury, looking to reclaim the central striking role.
