Arsenal host Brighton in the Premier League this Saturday as they look to end 2025 on top of the table.
The Gunners hold a two-point lead over Manchester City, but could lose their position if they fail to beat the Seagulls and City defeat Nottingham Forest.
Mikel Arteta’s men are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Brighton, winning three and drawing the other two. His side come into this match on a high following their progress to the semi-finals of the League Cup.
Severa players are on the treatment table ahead of this fixture. Gabriel Martinelli and Piero Hincapie are both doubts to feature, while Ben White, Cristhian Mosquera, Kai Havertz and Max Dowman are all ruled out through injury.
Gabriel Magalhães is reportedly with the squad and could be available for selection, in what would be a massive boost for the team. The centre-back has missed nine matches with a hamstring injury.
The Seagulls are similarly plagued by injuries to a number of key players. Danny Welbeck is doubtful to play due to a back issue, while Solly March, Adam Webster and Stefanos Tzimas are sidelined by injury. Mats Wieffer could return from a head injury and Jan Paul van Hecke is expected to be included in the matchday squad following an illness.
Following a rough patch of form, Arsenal have bounced back to win four on the trot in all competitions, their most recent victory coming via penalty shootout after drawing with Crystal Palace in the League Cup.
Their title ambitions were dented by Aston Villa earlier this month, but they recovered from that setback by beating Club Brugge, Wolves and Everton, although they were not entirely convincing in the latter two matches.
It’s been almost a full month since the Seagulls last won a game. Since beating Nottingham Forest away at the end of November, Fabian Hurzeler’s side have lost to Aston Villa and Liverpool and drawn with West Ham United and Sunderland.
Possible Arsenal starting XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Calafiori, Lewis-Skelly; Zubimendi, Rice, Ødegaard; Saka, Gyökeres, Martinelli.
Possible Brighton starting XI: Verbruggen; Wieffer, Veltman, Dunk, Kadıoğlu; Ayari, Gómez, Gruda; Mitoma, Rutter, Minteh.
This game will not be televised in the UK due to the longstanding Saturday blackout.
