Mikel Arteta’s side were eliminated in the third round of the FA Cup at the hands of the holders Manchester United.

Despite playing against 10 men for over an hour following Diogo Dalot’s dismissal, Arsenal couldn’t make their advantage count.

Gabriel equalised from the resulting free-kick but Martin Odegaard saw a penalty saved by Altay Bayindir.

The 14-time winners were knocked out as Kai Havertz was the only player who failed to convert their spot-kick in the shootout.

That was their third successive game without a victory. They lost the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle 2-0 at home and were held to a draw away at Brighton.

Spurs’ quality eventually overwhelmed National League outfit Tamworth in the FA Cup third round.

After 90 minutes, the game remained goalless, but after Ange Postecoglou introduced some of his senior players, the deadlock was finally broken.

An unfortunate own goal from Nathan Tshikuna broke Tamworth hearts before Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson confirmed the victory.

New goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky has enjoyed a fruitful start to his Tottenham career with consecutive clean sheets.

That included a shutout on his debut against Liverpool, where the Lilywhites beat the Premier League leaders 1-0 in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Tottenham haven’t won at the Emirates in the league since 2010 when they overturned a two-goal deficit to win 3-2.

Last Meeting: Tottenham 0-1 Arsenal, Premier League, 15th September 2024

Arsenal claimed the bragging rights back in September as a solitary goal decided a scrappy affair.

A combination of Guglielmo Vicario and Cristian Romero prevented Kai Havertz’s header from crossing the line early on.

Arsenal continued to threaten, particularly down the left-hand side through Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazilian evaded Pedro Porro once again but his finish was comfortably gathered by Vicario.

Dominic Solanke came close to netting his first goal for Tottenham but his looping header fell just wide of the post with David Raya scrambling.

It would not have been a North London derby without a mass brawl. Jurrien Timber’s robust challenge on Porro was not well received by Tottenham with Vicario in particular voicing the issue.

The second half was largely unevenuful until the 64th minute when Arsenal took the lead. Bukayo Saka’s corner was dangerous and found the forehead of Gabriel who powered in a header in front of the Arsenal faithful.

The hosts desperately tried to restore parity but their efforts came to no avail.
