With their pre-season tour of Singapore and Hong Kong now complete, Arsenal return to the Emirates Stadium to face Villarreal in their penultimate pre-season fixture.

Mikel Arteta’s side will be looking to bounce back from a narrow 1-0 defeat to north London rivals Tottenham, a result that blemished an otherwise perfect pre-season, which had included victories over Newcastle and AC Milan.

While the Gunners are still reportedly in the market for both attacking and defensive reinforcements, several of their new signings are expected to feature against Villarreal.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Arsenal vs Villarreal is scheduled for a 6pm BST kick-off on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The game will take place at the Emirates Stadium.

How to watch Arsenal vs Villarreal

TV channel: The match will not be shown live on TV in the UK.

Live stream: Arsenal will be streaming the match live on their official website and app for a current price of £4.99, although that fee will rise after 9am on Wednesday.

Alternatively, fans can pay £8.99 to watch both the Villarreal encounter and the Emirates Cup clash against Athletic Bilbao on August 9, which is also available for £4.99 as a standalone fixture.

Arsenal vs Villarreal team news

Defenders Gabriel Magalhaes, Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori are all available for selection after recovering from their respective injuries.

However, Leandro Trossard and Kepa are both being monitored after picking up knocks in the recent defeat to Tottenham.

Gabriel Jesus remains a long-term absentee, with the Brazilian striker still recovering from an ACL tear sustained in January. He is not expected to return until November.

Summer signings Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, and Arrizabalaga could all make their home debuts in this fixture.

On the opposing side, two former Arsenal players may line up for Villarreal. Nicolas Pepe, once the club’s record signing and a scorer in Villarreal’s most recent outing, is included in the squad alongside former loanee Denis Suarez.

Thomas Partey will not feature for Arsenal as he is set to join Villarreal, despite currently facing charges of five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

Should the transfer be finalised in time, he could be available to feature for the Spanish side.

Arsenal vs Villarreal prediction

After falling at the hands of Spurs in their previous fixture, the Gunners will be very hopeful of putting things right against an uninspiring Villarreal side who are winless in six games during pre-season

Arteta has an array of attacking talent to choose from, so you can expect goals from players eager to make an impression in front of the home fans against a team who have holes in their defence.

Arteta’s men may also be eyeing a measure of revenge following their Europa League heartbreak at the hands of the Yellow Submarine four years ago.
