Arsenal are facing what is sure to be a crucial summer. After a season in which they came close to the title, the north Londoners are looking to strengthen their squad with key signings, especially on the wings. With names like Nico Williams and Leroy Sané on the wish list, the bosses know the market will not be cheap.

The focus now is on finding quality without breaking the financial balance. While the big names are grabbing headlines, the club are quietly working on more affordable signings. It is in this context that a Brazilian who has shone in the Eredivisie appears and could offer solutions without big outlays.

Arsenal Want To Sign Igor Paixao

According to The Times, the Gunners have identified Igor Paixao as an alternative option to strengthen their attack. The Feyenoord player has had an exceptional season in the Netherlands and his name is already circulating in the offices of several English clubs.

Arsenal believe his price tag would be more manageable compared to other high-profile wingers. Despite Leeds’ interest and Liverpool’s monitoring, the North London side would be willing to accelerate the process if the opportunity materialises. Paixao, at 24, fits the young, technical profile with room for growth that the project values so highly.

Paixao has shown a consistency that puts him on the radar of any team that wants to add quality and creativity in the final third. With 16 goals and 14 assists in the league, the Brazilian was voted player of the year in the Netherlands. That doesn’t happen by chance. He possesses qualities like dribbling, play through tight spaces and vision to link up with strikers or get into the box.

In Arteta‘s 4-3-3 system, he could occupy either of the wings, although his left-footed profile on the left flank would fit as a less explosive but more technical version of Martinelli. Unlike other vertical wingers, he combines well inside and understands associative play. The Brazilian could be useful against tight defences, where Arsenal often stagnate.

He could also allow breaks for the starters without losing fluency. However, there is a thing to consider: the Eredivisie is not always a guarantee of immediate success in England. Some Brazilians have made it, others have not. Betting on Paixao would be a gamble with a certain risk, but also with a high ceiling. If the price is right, Arteta could mould him without haste. And if he doesn’t perform immediately, at least he would arrive hungry and without the media glare that comes from the ”galactic” signings.
