Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Arsenal have joined the race to hijack the move of Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo to Juventus. The Gunners need a quality defender to truly compete for the title and have been scouring the transfer market for quality options. The 25-year-old defender could go on to become one of the best options for Mikel Arteta’s side. He is one of the best defenders in the La Liga so it makes all the sense for Arsenal to make the move.

William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Riccardo Calafiori are already the three top centre-backs present in the Arsenal squad. The 25-year-old Araujo would just go on to add to the quality of the list. The Barcelona defender is currently in his prime and also has his best years ahead. Moreover, Araujo can perform his trade as a centre-back and also as a right-back in the playing XI.

Juventus are said to be keeping tabs on Araujo and very close to signing him. Reports say that they will take him on a loan move till the end of the season with a mandatory clause to purchase him in the summer transfer window. Araujo is not happy after having lost his position to Pau Curbarsi and Inigo Martinez. Barcelona, on the other hand, are suffering from financial problems.
