Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is facing two months out due to a knee injury picked up against Manchester City on Sunday.

Madueke was substituted during the second half of Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with City at the Emirates at the weekend. Initial fears suggested the 23-year-old was facing a long spell out.

The England international has made a positive start since his £55m move from Chelsea in the summer and Arsenal fears have been alleviated over the timeframe for his return.

The Athletic are reporting that Madueke will miss around two months after tests revealed the winger had avoided an ACL injury. Bukayo Saka’s return from a hamstring injury at the weekend is therefore well-timed for an Arsenal side missing several names. Saka replaced Madueke in Sunday’s fixture.

Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus remain sidelined, while Martin Odegaard is also currently out injured.

Alongside an important run of game for the Gunners, Madueke is also expected to miss England’s World Cup qualifiers this autumn. The Three Lions first face a friendly with Wales and qualifier against Latvia next month. In November, Thomas Tuchel’s team take on Serbia and Albania.
