Arsenal winger Marquinhos (20) is set to join Ligue 1 side FC Nantes for a season-long loan deal, according to a report this Monday from Ouest-France. After spending the last six months of the past season on loan at Championship side Norwich, the Brazilian is set to be loaned again at a team playing with a yellow and green jersey and nicknamed The Canaries, but this time, it will be in France. Foot Mercato broke the news last week that the Pierre Aristouy-led side was exploring the possibility of bringing Marcus Vinicius Oliveira Alencar to La Beaujoire.
Ouest-France understands that negotiations for the 20-year-old’s loan to FC Nantes are entering the final stages. Marquinhos joined the Gunners last summer from São Paulo in a €3.5m deal. The Brazilian U-20 international made six appearances for the North London side, scoring once in the Europa League group stage against FC Zurich. Nantes were in the market for attacking reinforcements following the €15m sale of mercurial winger Ludovic Blas to bitter Brittany rivals Stade Rennais. Nantes will kick off their Ligue 1 season at home against Toulouse on Sunday.
